Dreamforce, the biggest Salesforce event of the year, is not only a conference but also acts as the company’s biggest marketing opportunity of the year. It attracts more than 150,000 people from all over the world every year. In 2019, Dreamforce had drawn about 171,000 participants and reportedly generated revenues for the San Francisco Bay Area of more than 240 million dollars. The gathering is one of the biggest in the technology world with significant media coverage and renowned speakers, such as former US president Barack Obama.
This year, sadly, Salesforce has cancelled its massive event, Dreamforce, because of the COVID-19 pandemic and will hold an online virtual event in its place. Dreamforce had been scheduled from 9 Nov 2020 to 12 Nov 2020 in San Francisco. The company also said that it will "reimagine" all physical events for the rest of 2020. Salesforce had already converted its World Tour Sydney into an online conference in the month of March, transforming what would have been a physical event for 11,000 individuals into a virtual event attended by 80,000.

Almost all big events of 2020 were cancelled or moved up to 2021, following the spread of this fatal disease COVID-19, while most technology firms, such as Google, Facebook, and Microsoft, have opted to turn their conferences into virtual experiences. Salesforce is just one of many organizations that pivoted their physical events to a virtual conference, but one of the first to declare the cancellation of all 2020 events.
"As the COVID-19 situation continues to evolve, our first priority is to help ensure the health and safety of our customers, partners, employees, and communities," the company said on its website. "With this in mind, we have decided to reimagine our events through the end of the year in new and virtual ways. This will be true for all events, including Dreamforce, Tableau Conference 2020, Tableau Conference Europe, TrailheaDX India, and our World Tours."

The organization has said that it would reimburse sponsors who funded the event and people who bought tickets.
“We will miss bringing everyone together in person, but we are excited to shape our virtual events in ways that bring all of the fun, innovation, and learning to our dedicated community of Trailblazers,” said the blog post authored by Amy Weaver, Salesforce president, legal and corporate affairs, general counsel and secretary.
